EVENSTAR’S ARAGORN ‘STRIDER’ |

|
I deviated from my usual Russian slant on names here. The breeder is very much into JRR Tolkien and Norse mythology (as am I) so I kept with the theme. Arwen (an elven princess), whose name translates to Evenstar, is the kennel name. Aragorn is the ruler of the kingdom of man in Middle Earth, Arwen gave up her immortality to marry Aragorn. and one of Aragorn's many nicknames was Strider because he walked the Earth as opposed to riding a horse. When I heard of this potential breeding I contacted Cynthia immediately to let her know I was interested in a puppy. Watching the litter grow through pictures and video I was fairly sure "blue boy" was the one I wanted. When I drove to Massachusetts to see him my thoughts were confirmed. Since his arrival at Dux, he has happily joined the pack and loves to run with his big "brothers and sisters". His first puppy match at a little over 3 months was.....well interesting since he had been on a lead maybe twice ever. He took breed over another 3mo old because he was less crazy (NOT the way you want to win a class! ). His second outing at almost 4 1/2 months was much better even though he had had little training in between. At that match he took Best Junior Puppy in Match!!!!!!! At his first" big boy" AKC show he took Reserve Winners dog (at 6months and 2 days old). At 9 months and a day or so, his second show he did nothing (he was not so well behaved) but his third show he took WD/BOW/BOS for his first point and the first point for the litter. At 18 months he made the cut in futurity and in sweeps, then went on to take 2nd place in American Bred dogs at the Samoyed Club of America National Specialty show. |
