Yet another tongue twister! This name loosely translates into spirit of Echo's Dreamer (Echo's Just A Dreamer is her dad). I was so happy with what Sullie brought to the entire litter I felt a little nod toward him was indicated I had a hard time deciding on a call name for her...finally I thought Dixie was a good fit. Dixie was my pick puppy from early on, she had something that made her stand out. She was always the most "out there" puppy and now has a "go-with-the-flow" attitude. She has great structure, amazing reach and drive and has a very pretty face. Look for us to be back in the show ring this coming fall. She has had a litter from CH Vanderbilt’s Rock Maninov ‘Sergei’ Look for her pups in the ring soon (Gloriana is the one I kept and Tucker is living with his father Sergei). Her second breeding was to a nice boy from Arizona )Denahi). This litter produced Danny and Sandy. I am having fun watching them grow up. I bred Strider to Dixie, Things seemed to be going quite well until 4 days before Dixie was due. That day she acted very sluggish. I took her to the vet and she was found to be in Addisonian crisis. Despite the best critical care available she succumbed. Her pups were miraculously saved by emergency C-section. 8 puppies. I have a dear friend that had a mother with 3 week old pups, she took over as a surrogate mom. My friend (Jan Warner) and I tube fed the pups, adding to what they were getting from the surrogate mom and while it was very worrisome and the pups were very tenuous at first but they eventually took off and by some miracle we didn’t lose a single pup. Dixie will always hold a special place in my heart. It still tears me up to think about what happened. But she did give me 3 amazing litters and I see her in them every day. |
